Boredom is a lost art.

I feel stupid writing this note.

I really don't want to do it. In fact I wrote those first two sentences and then let them sit for two hours. I came back though — not because writing is super exciting now, but because I was bored. I've engineered out many of the typical stimulants in life, so now the most interesting thing to do is create or learn. Whether that's reading a book, working on my business, or writing, it's something productive. Those things become interesting when the alternative is staring at a wall.

Boredom is a lost art. My thesis is that creativity stems from boredom. Do we think Steve Jobs would've created Apple if he was scrolling reels all the time? (Or I guess watching television back then.)

I told a friend months ago that I hit a roadblock in life, and that to solve it I was going to sit in my room for four hours and just think. They looked at me like I was crazy.

But the good ideas will never come from asking Claude what to do. Or saving Twitter threads of other people's ideas, or watching YouTube videos on how to dropship (or whatever). They come from you and your mind.

Free your mind of the clutter and the ideas will emerge with shocking clarity.
